Well…… sometimes in life you find a little hidden gem in the ruff…. Mine was Project Life. A few weeks ago I had a deep urge to document our life through photos, but wanted something easy and simplified.
If your anything like me, you probably have tons of photos that are currently all saved digitally in some way, years and years of memories sitting in boxes or on the desktop of your computer just screaming at you to put them in an album before they all get lost. Yep…that’s the predicament I’m in. So, I’m on the hunt to find a simple process to make this task quick and easy. I quickly began my research to find out as much as I could about Project Life. Immediately I became enthralled.
What I’ve learned so far about Project Life…
My first impression from the Project Life website was Project Life is simple. In a nutshell, you pick your core kit, your album, and your pocket protectors and then you begin designing by just deciding on your design cards, photos and add a little bit of journaling if you’d like, then slide them in your pocket protectors. Voila! Done!
You can do as little or as much as you want when it comes to embellishing your journaling cards and photos. The sky is the limit as they say. So you know how I said earlier that I wanted a simplified and easy way to document….. well that clearly went out the window once I did my pinteresting research. HA! This girl has never been known to do things the easy way. Lots of trial and error has been had in my lifetime. However, all joking aside, I truly am excited to partake on the minimalist approach that Project life brings. I’m excited that I can decide what the meaning of minimal is to me during this process.
Sold I was on the Project Life Process at this point…
It didn’t take long for me to decide to start documenting our life in 2017 using Project Life. From everything I read it was exactly what I was looking for to take the guess work out of how scrapbooking made me feel overwhelmed. Just the thought of all the different embellishments or not having enough photos or not knowing where to start would make me feel that way, but just knowing that this Project Life process can be as minimal or extravagant as I want it to be takes away the overwhelmed feeling. Make the process fun again and not just be another daunting task.
This is also when I fell in love with Hip Kit Club. You sign up for a monthly subscription and they send a whole package of matching items straight to your door each month. Pretty much takes the guesswork out of the equation. Leaves you more time to actually design rather than searching and scouring every craft store within a X mile radius.
Without further ado… Let me tell you about what you will need…
Below are the supplies that I picked up to start my 2017 Project Life Process with, but remember the sky is the limit so you can modify this process to work for you, whatever that may be.
- Project Life Album (you can find this product here)
- PL Cards (Kit Pictured is the PL Maggie Holmes Edition) You can find other PL Core kits here, or here.
- Project Life 12 x 12 Page Protectors (Design B) You can find the Big Variety Pack 1 here.

I really believe that Project Life and Hip Kit Club is the cure to putting all my digitally saved photos somewhere that my family, my husband, myself, and our future children (when that time comes) can look back on years from now and see the memories that we may forget. I’m thrilled to get started with this process. So stay tuned for all the Project life layouts to come. Don’t worry I’m to bring you guys along on the journey this year!
It’s as simple as that! Now go get designing!
